Our history
Waxholms Hotell Aktiebolag
Waxholms Hotell's history began in 1856 when the city hotel Falks Salonger was built in Söderhamnen in Vaxholm but there has been something in place since the late 18th century.
After a fire in 1899, the hotel was rebuilt according to drawings by architect Erik Lallerstedt, and traces of the Art Nouveau style of that time can still be seen today in the stairs and foyer.

October 1902
The new Waxholms Hotell opened in October 1902 under the management of Augusta Karlsson. A plate of butter, cheese and herring with brandy cost 55 öre at the time. Augusta's bar, next to the Veranda, still exists and can be visited today.
Åke Söderquist & Nicky Forbes
In 1981, restaurateurs Åke Söderquist and Nicky Forbes took over the operation and attracted large crowds through skillful marketing. The following year, the television program 'Waxholms 1:an' with Bengt Bedrup was broadcast directly from the hotel and Badholmen, which provided valuable publicity and even more guests.

A brighter future
On 1st December 2024, Jesper Ahlbom and Stefan Strömberg purchased the business. Since then, the hotel has undergone a transformation and opened on 14th February 2025.
